The Office of the Conflict of Interest and Ethics Commissioner administers the Conflict of Interest Act and the Conflict of Interest Code for Members of the House of Commons which are intended to enhance confidence and trust in government and the House of Commons and to minimize the possibility of conflicts arising between their private and public interests. Employees of the Office advise public office holders and Members of Parliament on their obligations under the Act and the Code respectively, receive and review confidential reports of personal information, maintain confidential files of required disclosures, maintain public registries for publicly declarable information; and conduct examinations and inquiries into alleged contraventions of the Act and the Code respectively.
